Bridging the Gap in Healthcare Access: MedAi and BSGP’s Joint Initiative to Digitize Rural Clinics in Bangladesh

Memorandum of Understanding Signing Event (December 2024, Dhaka, Bangladesh)

Access to quality primary healthcare remains a significant challenge for millions of rural residents in Bangladesh. In many regions, the doctor-to-patient ratio is a staggering one doctor for every 10,000 people, leaving vast populations without timely medical attention. To address this critical healthcare gap, MedAi has partnered with the Bangladesh Society of General Physicians (BSGP) to establish the country’s first virtual, hyper-local primary care network.

MedAi CTO Dr. Shyamasree Saha and Dr. Ratin Mondal from BSGP signing the Memorandum of Understanding (December 2024, Dhaka, Bangladesh).

Building a Digital Healthcare Network

This groundbreaking initiative involves integrating the AmarDoctor digital health app into 197 GP clinics (Daktarkhana) across rural and peri-urban areas. Leveraging AmarDoctor’s advanced AI-driven platform, these clinics now offer virtual consultations led by doctors from BSGP’s extensive national network. This approach ensures that patients in remote areas, who previously had to travel long distances for even basic care, can now access medical expertise directly from their communities.

Enhancing Medical Consultations with AI

Doctors participating in this network use the AmarDoctor digital health app to transform their clinics into digital hubs. This app provides several advanced AI features designed to enhance medical care:

  • Smart Prescription Writing: Automatically generates accurate, personalized prescriptions.
  • Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS): Offers real-time guidance based on patient symptoms.
  • AI-Powered Treatment Recommendations: Provides tailored best practices for individual cases.

These features empower physicians to make faster, more accurate diagnoses and deliver effective treatments, significantly improving patient outcomes.

A Model for Nationwide Healthcare Transformation

By combining BSGP’s extensive grassroots medical expertise with MedAi’s state-of-the-art technology, this initiative sets a new standard for healthcare delivery in Bangladesh. As the network expands, it is projected to serve over five million people annually, reduce the burden on public hospitals, and enhance the capacity of local doctors to provide timely, effective care. MedAi and BSGP are not just digitizing rural clinics—they are democratizing healthcare access across Bangladesh. With this innovative partnership, they are bridging the healthcare gap for millions and creating a sustainable model that can be replicated nationwide.
